Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-03

This Cookie Policy explains how ShareCode (sharecode.online) uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them to keep you signed in, to remember your preferences, and — only with your consent — to measure usage.

Categories we use

  • Necessary — session, security/CSRF, consent and share‑access cookies. Always on; the service cannot work without them.
  • Functional — remember your theme and language. Set to honour your explicit choice; they contain no tracking.
  • Analytics — Google Analytics 4 measures aggregate usage (pages, sessions) so we can improve the service. Active only with your consent; uses Google Consent Mode and IP anonymization.
  • Marketing — Google AdSense may display advertising and, with your consent, set advertising cookies to measure and personalize ads. Active only where ads are shown and only with your marketing consent. You can change or withdraw either consent at any time via Cookie settings.

Specific cookies

  • Session cookie (“sc_session”) — keeps you signed in; HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, Secure in production. Necessary.
  • Consent cookie (“sc-consent”) — stores your cookie choices so we don’t ask again. Necessary.
  • Share‑access cookies (“pw_…” for password‑protected shares; “edit_…”/“del_…” for shares you create anonymously) — prove you may view or manage a specific share. Set only when relevant; necessary.
  • Theme (“sc-theme”) and language (“sc-locale”) cookies — remember your display choices; functional, no tracking.
  • Google Analytics 4 (analytics; set by Google only after you grant analytics consent): “_ga” / “_ga_<id>” distinguish users and persist GA4 session state (up to 2 years), “_gid” distinguishes users (24 hours), “_gat” throttles requests (1 minute). With IP anonymization and Consent Mode, none are written until you consent.
  • Google AdSense / DoubleClick (marketing; set by Google only after you grant marketing consent): “__gads” / “__gpi” measure ads and frequency capping (up to ~13 months), “IDE” / “DSID” on doubleclick.net measure ad effectiveness and serve ads (up to ~13 months), “test_cookie” checks cookie support (~15 minutes).

Third‑party cookies

We use Google services that may set third‑party cookies once you consent: Google Analytics 4 (analytics) and Google AdSense (advertising); Google may also set cookies during sign‑in with Google. These are governed by Google’s own policies (policies.google.com/privacy and policies.google.com/technologies/partner‑sites) and are deployed only via Google Consent Mode v2, so they activate only after your matching consent.

Managing your consent

You can accept, reject or customize non‑essential cookies in the consent banner, and change your choice at any time from the cookie settings. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings, though necessary cookies are required for the service to function.
